Chanukah at MTA was filled with meaningful moments that brought together Torah, t’filah, and powerful yeshivah achdus. Over the course of the week, talmidim experienced Chanukah not just as a celebration, but as a lived experience of connection and growth.
The week opened with an uplifting musical Hallel during Shacharis, led by Rabbi Yaakov Fuchs, setting a joyful and inspiring tone. Later that morning, talmidim reconnected with last year’s rebbeim for special shiurim, creating a sense of continuity and appreciation for the relationships that shape their learning journey. The day concluded with an energetic grade-versus-grade dodgeball tournament that brought excitement, teamwork, and classic MTA ruach.
The highlight of the week was the Chanukah chagigah, featuring special guest Mendy Worch from Thank You Hashem. With dancing, singing, and a kumsitz, the chagigah captured the heart of Chanukah at MTA. A Chanukah fried-food buffet and a lively Chinese auction drawing added to the excitement.
Chanukah ruach extended beyond the walls of the yeshivah with a special dorm Chanukah program, as talmidim brought the simchah into the streets of Washington Heights with singing and dancing, proudly spreading the light of Chanukah. The program also featured a special shiur by Rav Meir Goldvicht.
Midweek, talmidim visited their rebbeim in their homes, deepening relationships and offering meaningful time beyond the classroom. The Chanukah program concluded with creativity and fun through “Escape the Yeshivah,” followed by latkes for talmidim and a faculty luncheon honoring the dedicated staff who make MTA the yeshivah that it is.
Chanukah at MTA was a celebration of light in every sense. Through Torah, music, relationships, and shared moments, the yeshivah shone brightly, reminding all that the greatest light is created when a community comes together.
