The Hishtadeil Lihyos Ish Midos Program began at BYQ with an introductory assembly for grades 1-8. The very talented moros presented a musical play entitled Fiddler Off the Roof. The students were spellbound and thoroughly amused as the lessons of midos tovos came to life in a clear, entertaining, and humorous way. The four midos presented were chesed (kindness), emes (honesty), z’rizus (zealousness), and savlanus (patience).

Rabbi Mordechai Ginsparg, Menahel, opened the assembly with a powerful message. Highlighting Avraham Avinu’s midos of chesed and z’rizus, he emphasized that Avraham had to stand against the rest of the world to do what was right. Despite others behaving differently or making fun, we must always choose what is correct, acting with good midos, keeping the mitzvos of Hashem, and serving Him wholeheartedly.

The girls recited a perek of T’hilim, followed by singing the theme song for the year, “BYQ Let’s Partner Up!” with motions.

Following the performance, Mrs. Elisa Taub, midos program coordinator, introduced this year’s midos journal contest for grades 3-8: the “Howdy, Partner!” contest, which ties into the year’s theme. Each midah cycle, two classes that win the raffle will receive a tortilla chip fiesta. She then introduced the midah of the week and the key point to focus on.

Each student received a midos folder with a striking cover to hold all the lessons learned throughout the year.

Special thanks to Mrs. Chedva Abrahamson, Miss Ella Marcus, and Mrs. Finkey Levine for their exceptional assistance. Yasher koach to the morah actresses – Mrs. Tehilla Ben-Ari, Mrs. Hindy Howitt, Miss Tehilla Israelian, Mrs. Amanda Rosenfelt, Mrs. Shifra Schwartz, Mrs. Elisa Taub, Miss Devorah Wangrofsky, Miss Shira Arieh, Miss Esti Ehrenkranz, and Miss Chana Tova Kasirer – for going above and beyond to bring this meaningful program to life.

What an amazing beginning to our exciting midos program. We look forward to continuous growth as we work together to promote midos tovos.
