Faculty members from the Yeshiva of Central Queens (YCQ) recently led training sessions for educators across the country and around the world.

On Tuesday, August 26, YCQ’s own Dr. Elana Dumont, director of Psychological Services, and Mrs. Hadassah Kaplan, Grade 2 teacher, were featured panelists for Ohel’s national presentation, “If My Backpack Could Talk.” They spoke to educators about the importance of creating sensitive and compassionate classrooms for students who may be dealing with difficult situations at home. Their selection for the distinguished panel highlights YCQ’s deep commitment to student well-being and the expertise of its faculty.

This commitment to sharing educational expertise extended globally over the summer. Morah Mashie Kopelowitz, YCQ’s director of Judaic Studies, led a workshop for the iTaLAM platform, training principals and coordinators from schools in Costa Rica, Russia, Ukraine, Belgium, Germany, and France. The session focused on utilizing the rotational model to personalize classroom instruction for Judaic studies, including Ivris, K’riah, and Chagim.

When YCQ’s faculty members are repeatedly chosen for these leading roles, it demonstrates that the school’s methods are in high demand. Other yeshivos from across the country and around the world look to YCQ as a model for how to support students successfully while using a creative and innovative curriculum.
