At Bnos Malka, the excitement of Pesach came to life as preschool students participated in a hands-on Matzah Baking Experience, taking them on a journey from wheat stalk to finished matzah.
The children began by observing a real stalk of wheat, discovering the tiny wheat berries inside. They learned how to blow off the chaff, and then they took turns grinding the wheat berries into flour, seeing firsthand how flour is made.
Next came the most exciting part: the baking process! Wearing their special baker hats, the students helped combine the water and flour, just as matzah bakers do. Each child was given her own piece of dough to roll out with a wooden rolling pin, carefully poking holes to ensure it baked properly. The dough was then quickly baked right in school, and the children delighted in tasting their own freshly baked matzah!
As a special touch, each child also received a sealed box with a piece of authentic Pesach Matzah Shmurah to bring home, allowing them to share their experience with their families.
The hands-on matzah baking gave the children a deeper appreciation for the mitzvah of matzah, making the upcoming Yom Tov even more meaningful. The excitement and joy were truly felt throughout the day, as they connected to our mesorah in a way they will always remember.
