The spirit of Purim was felt in full force at Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center this year, as residents enjoyed a lively and heartwarming celebration that brought together students, families, and staff for a day filled with joy and connection.
The festivities were made possible through the thoughtful efforts of the facility’s administration, with special appreciation extended to Linda Spiegel, Director of Public Affairs, whose continued dedication helps create meaningful experiences for residents throughout the year.

A highlight of the event was the participation of the student body from Lander College for Men, whose presence brought an infectious energy to the seudah. The students spent time with residents, sharing smiles, conversation, and the festive spirit that defines Purim. Their enthusiasm helped transform the day into a truly uplifting experience for those living at the facility.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were the lively Purim melodies performed by the event’s keyboardist and singer. Their spirited music filled the room and drew residents and visitors alike into the celebration, creating a warm and joyful environment that perfectly captured the spirit of the holiday.

Families from the surrounding community also joined the celebration. Many of these families had no personal connection to the nursing center other than living in the neighborhood, yet they felt that one of the most meaningful ways to begin Purim with their children was by visiting residents who are away from their own homes while receiving essential medical care. Their participation reflected the deeper message of the holiday: spreading happiness and ensuring that no one feels forgotten.

For the residents of Margaret Tietz, the presence of visitors, students, and staff celebrating together served as a powerful reminder that they remain an important and cherished part of the broader community.
As Purim celebrations continued throughout the day, the laughter, music, and heartfelt interactions throughout the facility made it clear that even simple acts of kindness can bring extraordinary joy, especially to those who may need it most.
