Spring is in the air, and the new looks of the season trend from bold and natural, colorful and understated, to minimalist and surprising. This season is all about customizing your makeup and playing up what you have. Makeup is no longer about one size fits all; it’s about choosing a trend that works for you and takes your whole face into account. The following new looks are easy to create and can easily be incorporated for Spring 2022.

Blush - Contouring is not as important this season, and instead of using blush to sculpt your cheeks, it’s being used to add life color and sheen to your complexion. This seems to create a more vibrant but natural cheek and eliminates some time from your makeup routine.

Brows - Minimalistic, barely-there brows are back! After seasons of full brows and filling in any sparse spots, lighter or thinly-tweezed brows are back. This look allows for other facial features to take center stage for spring.

Monochromatic Makeup - It’s faster and easier to do your makeup application with limited colors to create a monochromatic look.  You can choose a complimentary shade of lip or blush color and apply it to several areas of the face. Colors like pink, coral, peach, red, and brick tend to be most flattering to various skin tones.

Lightweight Foundation - Say goodbye to heavy foundation. Sheer, radiant formulas that allow your natural skin to shine through are current. This creates a dewy look, which appears very fresh for spring.

Periwinkle Pops are Popular- If you’re tired of neutral eyes only, here’s your chance to add some fun and creativity, because Very Peri is making a comeback. As a matter of fact, Pantone even promoted this shade as Color of the Year. This color looks great on brown, green, and blue eyes, provided your complexion is not sallow. You can keep the rest of your look minimalistic, since a pop of color to highlight one feature is a great way to make a subtle impact.

Color Coordinated Looks – Matchy-matchy is having its moment in fashion. Bright green and vibrant blue eyeshadows are gracing the eyes to accompany an outfit in a similar color.

Frosty Eyeshadows - Although the weather is warming up, frosty eye shadows are in vogue. Frosty shades of white, silver, and light blue abound for spring.

Inner Corner - A popular trend this season is to showcase the inner V of the eyes by highlighting that area. White, silver, or another vibrant color placed in that area can make the eye pop in a subtle way.

Think Pink - This rosy shade is blooming for Spring 2022.  From shadows and blushes to lipsticks, this color can really brighten and add life to a face.

Nude Lips - As eyeshadow shades are becoming bolder, lips are getting toned down. Subtle shades can bring the attention straight to the eyes.

Cat Eye Reversed - Bottom eyeliner is back and better than in the past.  Reverse wings were showcased on all the spring runways and the red carpet. Whether sharp or smudgy, the trend is bold but can be flattering. It seems to enlarge the eyes, since the upper lid is light and bright, and the angles of the liner lift at the outer corners of the eyes.

Old Hollywood Glam - This look translated to thicker top eyeliner with a short-flicked wing. It’s pretty, classic, and easy to pull off.

Shiny Gloss - Spring 2022 is big on glossy lips, which have always been a favorite of mine. The formulas are nourishing with a finish that’s high shine.

Makeup is all about creativity. With so many new color choices and various trends available, find what speaks to you.  Have some fun, and play around and experiment, because you will surely find something that sparks some joy and brings out the beauty in you.
