There is something special to be said for pink makeup, which is both beautiful and feminine. This look is on trend this season, and pink is one of those colors that’s universally flattering to all skin tones and eye colors. Pink also works well with most eyeshadow colors. Whether you’re trying to achieve an understated look with muted pinks or create a bold and brilliant eye with more vibrant hues, there’s something rosy for everyone.
Always begin with an eye primer, to ensure eye makeup longevity and help create some intensity to the colors. Concealer is another must, which will brighten the eye area and camouflage any dark circles underneath. This should be followed by loose or pressed powder to lock in the cream products.
Soft Pink
For a soft and pretty daytime look that’s fast and easy to achieve, try applying a baby pink color to the eye lids and underneath browbones. Next, apply a mauvy pink in the crease, sweeping back and forth with a rounded shadow brush. Apply a bit of black or dark brown shadow liner to the upper eyelid, and finish off with a coat of mascara. You can opt for a cream pink blush, which goes on fast and easy, and finish the look with glossy pink lips. This effortless look should save you time in the morning and is neutral enough to work well with most of your winter wardrobe.
Pink Pizzazz
If you’re headed out for the evening and want a more vibrant eye, this look is for you. You may decide to apply your eye makeup first and your foundation and concealer afterwards. This will give you the option to clean up any fallout from the shimmer particles in your shadows.
After you’ve powdered your primer, apply a deep mauvy or plummy shade in the crease and a bit above, depending on the bone structure of your eye. Sweep the color back and forth, blending well with a large, rounded fluff brush. Next, apply a shimmery rose gold or rosy lilac color on your lids, concentrating the shade from the inner corners to the middle of the eyes. Sweep a very light and shimmery color underneath the browbones as a highlighter and add some of that color to the inner V of the eye. Last, take a deeper plummy or mauvy pink and place on the outer third of the lids, bringing it around from the end of the crease and blending back and forth until it seamlessly melds into the other colors Add a bit of that same color and apply underneath the bottom lashes. Black or dark brown liquid winged eyeliner will make this eye really pop by adding a soft yet bold effect. Be sure to thicken the wing at the outer third of the eye.
Mauve or pink is a great way to softly play up your cheeks. Apply a bit more color on the apple of the cheeks for a natural flush, or work the color upwards to your cheekbones for a more sculpted look. Then, place a sheer highlighter on the top of the cheekbones for a dewy glow. You can then seal your look with a rosy pink lipstick or mauvy pink shimmery mouth and manicure.
