As both Rav Shamshon Raphael Hirsch (B’reishis 27:1) and Rav Chaim Shmuelevitz (Sichos Musar 24) note, Yitzchak Avinu was in total trepidation upon discovering that he was duped by Yaakov’s impersonation of his brother Eisav (See B’reishis 27:33). What was terrifying, both commentators remark, was that he now came to realize that his entire judgment system had been a folly. Rivkah was right about Eisav all along. How easily he was fooled, and how wrong he had been!

By the same token, we often find ourselves painfully self-deceived about our lifelong philosophies and many of our political choices. It is not easy to admit we were wrong.

I will admit that, although I was skeptical of Eric Adams as mayor, what I have seen of him, so far, is encouraging. As of now, he is saying the right things and standing up to the wrong people. He did not yield to the threat from the BLM leader to “burn this city” if tough policing was maintained. He is not yielding to the lunatics from the left. He is realizing that even liberal New Yorkers want to live, and to live in peace.

I will also admit that I differ strongly with those on the right, mostly Republicans, who want to relax masking and vaccinating laws. These Republicans feel, true to their core belief, that government should not interfere with our own life decisions.

Although generally my politics is to the right, here I’m sorry to say that I’m with the likes of Mayor Bill de Blasio and President Joe Biden. In fact, if it were up to me, I would criminalize those who refuse to vaccinate, except for genuine health reasons. Sorry, your decision on this matter does not affect you alone. It affects our entire society. We will not rid ourselves of this awful COVID-19 plague unless we do as they did with Smallpox and Polio decades ago. Vaccinate.

But vaccinating is not the point of this article. I’ve written about the topic before, and I took my praises and lumps from both sides of this volatile issue.

My question is: How long will it take for those who voted for Biden to realize the grave error they made? I’ve seen clips of reporters going with a mic in the streets and asking people if they can name one thing Joe Biden accomplished since being in office. Like the owner of Ben & Jerry’s, they were stumped to think of an answer that would justify their convictions.

I know that these “Ask the Man in the Street” gimmicks can be very deceiving. Perhaps they do not show the ones that had a good response. Yet I think to myself, can I actually name a single accomplishment? Can you?

Whether it’s the economy, chain supply, inflation, energy independence, Afghanistan, climate control, stability in the Middle East, the border, foreign relations, or COVID control, he has accomplished nothing. It is not for naught that despite the herculean efforts of mainstream media to downplay his misplays, he sits at a 38% approval rating while his VP is at 10% less.

And for us as Jewish voters: Biden has ordered the US to abstain in a one-sided vote to condemn Israel for usurping Arab lands requiring Israel to compensate the Arabs for their aggression in 1948 and beyond, while saying nothing about Jews who were forced to flee Egypt, Iraq, and other Arab lands. It’s the bad old days of Obama.

He is forcing a consulate in Jerusalem that gives recognition to the Palestinian claim to our capital as theirs. He is trying to restart the disastrous Iranian Nuclear Deal. This does not bother you? Can you tell me any time that President Trump did anything to upset Israel?

We now have hindsight to show that those who protested the Oslo Accords and the disengagement from Gush Katif were right all along. We did not fall for the leftist illusionary promise of peace.

Come on now! Admit it. Voting for Biden was a huge mistake. You may not have liked Trump’s coarse personality, but you were not voting for Mr. America. You were voting to have a proud country, a stable economy, and a trusted friend of Israel. One thing, however, I will agree with is that Trump foolishly fed red meat to his detractors and sharks in the media. That helped embroil the country. For that reason, I would rather see someone like Nikki Haley run for president on the Republican ticket, if not Marco Rubio.

Should I be proven wrong in the near future, im yirtzeh Hashem I will admit it. I will be glad to say that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris really have shown leadership. But in the meantime, can you Biden voters admit it just a bit? He is a failure on steroids.
