SHA Holds Commencement Ceremony for Middle School Students

Silverstein Hebrew Academy (SHA) is proud to announce it recently held a commencement ceremony for the class of 2019 middle school students. The SHA eighth grade students will be advancing to the top yeshivah high schools throughout the New York metropolitan area next fall. Along with celebrating the graduating class, this year’s ceremony was especially significant, because it has been 20 years since SHA opened its doors in 1999.

“Our eighth graders are advancing to some of the top high schools in the New York metropolitan area. At SHA, we are dedicated to ensuring each child achieves excellence in both their Judaic and academic studies,” said Shireen Butman, head of school at SHA. “We focus on creating a community-oriented environment within the school and instilling leadership skills in our students to ensure success in any competitive academic setting and beyond.”

The middle school at SHA provides many valued programs, including its partnership with the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE), a nationwide organization dedicated to preparing students to succeed in the ever-changing global society. Using hands-on approaches and extensive teacher training, SHA utilizes the tools available through CIJE to better prepare students for the 21st-century workplace.

The balance between exceptional academic and Judaic programs of study, coupled with individual attention for each child, has successfully prepared SHA’s middle school students for success in high school and beyond. SHA students from the class of 2019 will be attending the HANC High School (Hebrew Academy of Nassau County), Ramaz High School, Yeshiva University High School for Girls, Ezra Academy, and North High.
